Award-winning television series, Game of Thrones, appears to be getting ready to film in Magilligan, in Co. Derry.
Local residents who contacted the ‘Journal’ said signs popped up in the area today, with activity building near St Aidan’s Church, with what appears to be crew in the vicinity.
One resident told the ‘Journal’: “It’s great to see Game of Thrones back in Magilligan. The sun is shining and it will be great to see beautiful Magilligan back on TV.”
It’s understood filming will take place on Binevenagh mountain on Saturday, and the car park of the local St. Aidan’s Church is to be used to facilitate crew. The ‘Journal’ understands crews will depart on Monday.
Local SDLP Colr. Gerry Mullan said it was another great opportunity to showcase the stunning local landscape of Magilligan.
“Game of Thrones was here last year filming, so it’s great to see what is a global sensation back here again. It’s no surprise, really, because of the wonderful scenery and the beautiful countryside. It is a beautiful setting. It’s perfect really,” said Colr. Mullan. “Once again it will put the area on the map global.”
