Genealogist in Milwaukee to give advice on family trees

Derry genealogist Brian Mitchell will be part of a delegation at Milwaukee to showcase the North West and promote tourism, trade and investment.

Brian, Derry City Council’s genealogist will be at the Milwaukee Irish festival promoting the Genealogy Service and encouraging Irish Americans to explore their family tree and retrace their history and links with Derry and Donegal.

Brian says the Milwaukee Irish Fest is an ideal event to capitalize on the growing interest in family and ethnic history among the Irish Diaspora in America.

Mary Blake, Tourism Development Officer with Derry City Council said: “The Milwaukee Fest is a huge event, attracting an audience of around 150,000 people over the four-days. It’s a unique event aimed at celebrating all aspects of Irish culture and the perfect chance for us to showcase our region to a new global audience.
