Get creative at the Roe Valley Centre

Beat those January blues by learning something new, meeting new people and being creative. The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre/Ionad Ealaíon agus Cultúir Ghleann na Ró has a wealth of great creative learning courses for young and old during January-April 2012.

Adult courses kick off with Paper Craft, running from 18 January to 22 February, 7-9pm. Participants will learn the basics of paper craft techniques, including stamping, quilling, decoupage, parchment, foiling and more, to make beautiful keepsake cards, artwork and objects. Cost: £30 full/£26 concession.

A six-week course in Textile Art runs from 2 February to 8 March, 7-9pm. Working with felt and mixed fabrics, participants will explore sculpture, decoration, embellishment and dyeing to create unique artworks or accessories. Cost: £30 full / £26 concession.

If you’d like to hone your painting skills in time for Spring, then join the Introduction to Acrylic Painting Course from 22 March to 26 April, 7-9pm. Experience landscape and still life painting, brush techniques and colour theory. Cost: £30 full/£26 concession.

Children can revel in a host of fun arty activities, including Dramabugs, bringing your little one aged 3-6 years out of their shell through movement and drama. This course is so popular, two session times are available from 17 January to 21 February, with Course 1 running from 4-4.45pm and Course 2 running from 5-5.45pm. Cost: £24. Kids aged 5-7 years can also participate in the StART Club, making lots of spectacular arts and crafts, running from Saturday 4 February to 10 March, 10.30am-12.30. Cost: £24.

On Thursday 9 February at 4pm, the Armagh Planetarium presents their amazing inflatable Stardome for ages 7+ years to enjoy. Eager stargazers will crawl into the Stardome where they’ll see projections of the night sky and hear the stories of the stars, the Solar System, and how to live in space! Cost: £4.
