Two homes in Glengad were burgled on Friday as their owners attended a family wedding.

The houses, located in close proximity, are owned by the Doherty (Liza) family, who were attending the wedding of their son and brother at the time.

A substantial amount of cash and jewellery, many of which had sentimental value, were taken during the break-ins, which occurred between 4 and 10.30pm on Friday, January 2nd in Glengad, Inishowen. The homes targeted belonged to the mother and brother of the groom.

Gardai in Buncrana have appealed for information and Donegal County Councillor Martin McDermott, who is a relative of those affected, described the incident as “sickening.”

He said the community had been left shocked but had rallied around in support of the family.
