Golf writer to walk Wild Atlantic Way for charity

Nick Faldo's former manager is set to embark on a massive fundraising challenge for Cancer Care West.

Nick Edmund, a 56-year-old golf writer, golf course design consultant and Member of Ballyliffin Golf Course will set off from Malin Head on Saturday, and start to walk the Wild Atlantic Way.

Speaking to the ‘Journal’, John Farren, manager of Ballyliffin Golf Club said: “Nick was instrumental in building our association with Nick Faldo.

“Nick previously walked the Himalayas for Macmillan UK, but in the past 18 months, he has been diagnosed with cancer himself.

“He is very determined, and it is a massive undertaking.”

Nick will play the fourth hole on every golf course along the Wild Atlantic Way as part of the ‘Walk 4 Cancer’ fundraiser.

He will start his challenge tomorrow, Saturday, March 4 at Banba’s Crown, Malin Head, heading to Malin Town and making his way to Buncrana on Sunday.

He will walk a first leg of 1,000km from Malin Head to Galway in spring, and a second 1,000km stretch from Galway to Kinsale in autumn.
