A Derry pensioner who suffered injuries after a fall in the city centre is calling on others who have been injured to join in a protest at 2.30 pm tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon.
Sadie Townsend said since her fall, close to Badger’s Pub, she has been contacted by a number of people who have had similar falls - and who have said the paving stones in many city centre streets become extremely slippery when wet.
She hopes that if people come together to talk about their experiences it will force those responsible for the upkeep of the city’s roads and footpaths to take action.
“I will be on the steps of St. Columb’s Hall on Tuesday at 2.30pm and I am hoping that people will come and join me.
“I am asking just that they write their names and list any injuries they have had on post it notes to stick to a poster.
“I have been contacted by a number of people who have sustained nasty injuries in falls around Derry’s streets - and I’m hoping if enough people come together we will get something done about it all.”
