Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin has praised the way staff at Altnagelvin Hospital’s accident and emergency department dealt with an Ebola scare.
The Foyle MLA and chair of the Assembly’s health committee said: “Staff at Altnagelvin Hospital’s emergency department was faced with a patient who was concerned about Ebola.
“The response from the staff in the emergency department was professional and impressive.
“They followed the procedures in place for dealing with this scenario and liaised closely with the Public Health Agency and took advice from health experts.
“Thankfully this patient did not have Ebola and no patients in the hospital currently have the disease.
“The professionalism and diligence of the staff at the hospital in dealing with this patient is to be commended.”
