More than £1.5million is to be spent encouraging people in the north west to eat healthier.
The money - coming from the EU’s INTERREG IVA Programme - will be used to establish five community allotments/gardens in the Derry, Strabane, Magherafelt , Limavady and Donegal council areas.
Eugene McMenamin, Chairman of the North West Region Cross Border Group (NWRCBG) welcomed the £1.55million funding package.
He says the project will “enhance local communities by providing a facility where they can learn how to grow and cook their own produce, as well as benefit from fresh air and exercise, and the opportunity to meet with other members of their community”.
The project will be delivered by the NWRCBG.
