Charity, Cardiac Screening in the Young (CRY) will stage a two day free cardiac screening event in Derry next month.
The clinic, which will take place in Foyle College on the Duncreggan Road on November 22 and 23, is designed to detect issues with heart amongst local people aged between 14 and 35.
The screening, which usually costs £35 is free of charge.
“Due to the continuous generosity and tireless fundraising of the people of Northern Ireland we are very fortunate to be able to offer this as a free service,” said a CRY spokesperson.
“Between 12 and 19 young people die in the UK every week from Sudden Cardiac Death, in most cases from a condition that they didn’t know they had.
“CRY’s aim is to reduce this number by screening people aged 14-35 all over the UK to detect any cardiac irregularities or conditions and in turn, save lives.
“We would encourage as many people as possible to avail of this service when we come to Derry next month.”
