The inclusion of men in the roll out of a vaccine for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) has been welcomed by Sinn Féin Derry Councillor Sandra Duffy.

Health Minister Michelle O’Neill recent announced a £100,000 investment upon advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

HPV can cause cancer and genital warts. Men who have sex with men will be eligible for the vaccine.

Colr. Duffy said: “I welcome the news that my colleague Michelle O’Neill has announced an investment into the HPV vaccination programme.

“It is great news that men in the north of Ireland will be eligible to receive the HPV vaccine. Investment in this programme will help to provide protection for men under the age of 45 against HPV,” she added.
