A new cycling club in Limavady starts on Saturday, September 27 at Roe Valley Leisure Centre at 10am.

The H4L Bike Fit club is another Health for Life initiative and comes following the success of the other ‘Choose to Live Better’ Clubs - Valley Running Club, Best Foot Forward Walking Club and Different Strokes Swimming Club.

The bike club, which costs only £1 per session, will cater for all abilities and fitness levels and qualified coaches will be present on all cycles to guide participants through and help them increase their fitness levels and goals.

All that coaches Kieran, Eamon and Robert request is that you turn up with a road-worthy bike and a cycle helmet.

The first session on Saturday, 27 September will see members depart on a light 20 minute cycle around the town gradually progressing in the following weeks. Complimentary tea and coffee will then be served back at RVLC.

Kieran Coyle, Activity Lifestyle Officer, anticipates the new H4L Bike Fit club being very popular in Limavady. He said, “It’s visible to see in the town that people are using their bikes to get about. The only issue is that they are riding on the footpath or are listening to music on their head phones. The new club will give people the knowledge to act safely on the road while also building up their confidence on their bikes.”

All bikes are welcome from BMX bikes, Mountain bikes to hybrid bikes etc.

H4L Bike Fit club is also working on setting up a bike bank so anyone with a disused bike that they are looking to dispose of, please contact Kieran Coyle at Roe Valley Leisure on 028 77764009 or email him at kieran.coyle@limavady.gov.uk

Kieran can also be contacted for more information on the bike club and/or the other Health for Life clubs.
