Following the success of the Best Foot Forward Walking Club, a new running club for the Limavady borough will take off next month from Roe Valley Leisure Centre.
Both clubs have been launched under the Health for Life Programme.
Valley Running Club is aimed at people who want to start on the road to a healthier body and mind.
“It is a club that takes great pride in changing people’s lives by simply running with club members. The club meet three times a week – Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm and on a Saturday morning at 10am.,” said a Council spokesperson.
The club was founded to cater for the people of Limavady who don’t want to pay the great expense of yearly gym memberships or weekly classes.
“The running club costs £1 per run and all you need to take part in it is a good, well fitted pair of trainers and suitable running gear for all weather,” said the spokesperson.
Council says Valley running club is for all ages, young and old and all coaches are “fully trained to deal with any underlying medical condition you may have, even those that in the past have stopped you from exercising”.
The club meets at Roe Valley Leisure Centre and members are set up in the relevant fitness groups with the aim of getting fitter and progressing up the groups.
“Meeting at RVLC also means that members can make use of the shower facilities on the premises after the run.
“Regardless of your age, fitness level, aspiration, background, or location you can be a part of Valley Running Club and reap the benefits as you will not only increase your fitness, you will make friends and have fun along the way!” added the spokesperson.
Due to the success of Best Foot Forward Walking Club, from Tuesday, 1 October it will also take place three times a week- Tuesday and Thursdays at 6.30pm to coincide with the running club and Wednesday at 2.15pm as usual.
All departing from RVLC.
