A Carrickfergus woman who was adopted when she was just a toddler in Derry is asking the readers of the Derry Journal to help reunite her with her long lost father.
The appeal comes just a week after Facebook followers of the ‘Derry Journal’ helped reunite Patricia Germaine with the family of her birth mother, Elizabeth ‘Lily’ Hegarty - who sadly passed away just a year ago.
Close to 30,000 people viewed our appeal for help on the ‘Journal’s’ Facebook page - and within hours of the original post Patricia was able to talk with her cousins - who remembered the toddler before she was adopted from her home in Rinmore.
Now the search moves to trying to track Patricia’s birth father who was last known to be living in England. The man, whose name is J. Vickery was an English naval man believed to be stationed with the RAF at Ballykelly.
He courted Lily Hegarty in the late 1950s.
Now Patricia is desperate to put the final pieces of the jigsaw back together.
If anyone has information about J. Vickery or his family, please contact Claire Allan at the Derry Journal on 71272256 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
