This year the Inishowen Traditional Singers’ Circle is hosting a really unique singing event – an all women line up of traditional singers - and the only invited male guest is going to talk about - yes – women!

Taking place over the weekend of March 18-21, in the villages of Clonmany and Ballyliffin, this 4 day singing marathon covers concerts, talks, workshops and good company.

The guest list is drawn literally from across the world of traditional singing – Breton, American, Scottish and English singers join with Donegal and Ireland’s finest performers – an opportunity not to be missed. Local singers of course feature strongly in all activities and the Singers’ Circle is proud to announce the first traditional performance from Cloontagh National School Children’s Choir. With songs passed on by Roseanne McGonigle and Grace Toland, principal Evelyn McCracken and teachers, Frances and Marie Doherty are busy rehearsing with the children for the big Saturday night concert. Fiddler Liz Doherty is also going to perform with a few friends– yes, singers like their music too!

The talks this year cover the life of legendary Tyrone singer, Sarah Anne O’Neill by her friend Roisin White, and TV presenter, Nicholas Carolan delves in to the lives of American women song collectors who came to Ireland in the 1950s.

For those who would like to learn a song or two, the Sunday morning workshop offers the chance to brush up on the Donegal style – with Rita Gallagher, Grace Toland and Maire Ni Choilm.

But the weekend is much more than organised events … there are opportunities over the four days to take part or sit back and listen at the informal sessions – in the Ballyliffin Hotel, in McFeeley’s Bar, Clonmany, the North Pole Bar, Drumfries and the Rusty Nail, Crossconnell.

Individual tickets are available for the concert, talks & workshop. Or you can avail of a weekend pass to all events including the Seminar dinner on Saturday night with the added bonus of transport between all venues.
