The first theatre piece on Bloody Sunday to be performed since the Saville inquiry will come to the Playhouse on the 40th anniversary of the tragedy.

‘Heroes with their Hands in the Air’, portrays the families and victims own accounts of the relentless battle to vindicate their loved ones and themselves during the longest legal proceedings in this country’s history. Adapted from Eamonn McCann’s book “The Bloody Sunday Inquiry: The Families Speak Out”, this play gives a powerful interpretation of loss alongside the pursuit of justice.

Produced by local theatre company Fahy Productions, the production will be the first to be performed publicly since the conclusion of the Saville inquiry, and stars Liam Green, Amanda Doherty, Pat McGaughey, Louise Conaghan and Micky Kelly.

A special performance will take place on Monday January 30, the 40th anniversary of Bloody Sunday itself, followed by a special matinee on Tuesday, January 31, at 4pm. Performances will also take place on Friday, February 3, and Saturday, February 4, at 8pm. A question and answer session will follow the matinee performance. Tickets are £10 (7.50 for the matinee performance) from The Playhouse Box Office on: 71. 268027 or online at: www.derryplayhouse.co.uk.
