Hit and run in Derry: police appeal after cyclist injured

Police are appealing for information following a hit and run that occurred on the Racecourse Road in Derry on Sunday morning.

A PSNI spokesman said: “At approximately 9am there was a two vehicle rtc involving a car and a bicycle. “The cyclist, a woman aged in her 40s, received injuries that required hospital treatment.

“The car involved was a blue people carrier. The driver did get out of the car at the time but then left a short time later.

“He is described as being aged in his 40s, bald, and he had children in the car at the time.”

Constable Barry O’Neill said: “I would ask the driver of the car, or anyone who knows anything about this rtc, to contact police at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 490 of 29/05/16.”
