Hospice Midnight Walk ‘bigger and better’ this year

The saying “a night on the town” will take on a new twist courtesy of The Foyle Hospice Midnight Walk, which organisers say is “bigger, better and brighter than ever”.

The second annual Limavady Midnight Walk is scheduled for Friday 22nd June. It is a 3.5 mile sponsored walk around the town and will start/finish at Roe Valley Leisure Centre, Greystone Road. The walk starts at midnight and is a “ladies only” event.

“This is your chance to support your local Hospice and truly make a difference here in the North West,” said Rachel Bruce, Community Fundraiser.

“Our first Limavady Midnight Walk was a fantastic night with 570 ladies coming out and adding a little extra punch to the Jazz Festival.

“We had fantastic support from Limavady and the surrounding areas on the night and we hope this year that by avoiding the date clash with the Jazz festival even more ladies will be able to join us.”

Ms Bruce says Foyle Hospice relies heavily upon the support and donations from the public “so we hope that through events such as our Midnight Walk people can not only make a difference to those suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses right here in their own area but also enjoy the experience and learn more about all aspects of Hospice Care”.

Ms Bruce said she was “absolutely delighted” to be able to thank all of their main sponsors whom are back on board this year; Heron Bros Ltd, Hunters and Roe Valley Leisure Centre.

“This year also sees the addition of Q102 and Doherty’s Meats.

“Their support and contributions help us in creating and delivering a successful event for everyone involved,” she said.

“I really hope ladies throughout the town and outlying area can come together with friends, family or work colleagues and take part in the midnight walk whether it is for fun, fitness, in hope or in memory of someone dear to them.”

The entry fee is £10 with all participants receiving the all new Limavady Midnight Walk T-Shirt, Medal, goodie pack and “the extra treat of a tasty sausage bap on completion of the walk!”.
