Scottish police say a woman missing from a hospital in Ayr could have made her way to Derry.

A Strathclyde Police spokesman says Dawn Lawrence (50), currently a patient at the Ailsa Hospital in Ayr, was last seen around 2pm on Friday afternoon at the side of the A77 road near Maybole in Ayrshire.

“Extensive enquiries have been carried out by police in an effort to trace her,” the police spokesman says.

“So far, enquiries have revealed that she travelled to Ireland. She was last seen getting off a ferry in Larne around 6.50pm on Friday evening.

“It is believed that Dawn may have travelled onwards to the Foyleside area of Londonderry/Derry.

“It’s not clear why Dawn has travelled to Ireland but officers are keen to locate her and ensure she is safe and well.”

Dawn is described as being of medium height and medium build. She has shoulder length blond wavy hair. She is carrying a backpack with a teddy bear in it.

Anyone with information regarding Dawn’s whereabouts is asked to contact Strathclyde Police on 01292 664000.
