Inishowen man wins 85,000 euro the week before daughter's wedding

An Inishowen man has a double reason to celebrate after winning 85,000 euro and a holiday on TV show '˜Winning Streak' ahead of his daughter's wedding this weekend.

Michael Anthony Doherty, who was ‘born and bred’ in Desertegney appeared on the popular RTE game show on Saturday night, where he picked up 85,000 in cash as well as a holiday to Prague worth 3,000.

The 54-year-old might be in need of that holiday as he has had a busy week, with another one ahead of him.

Following his appearance on Winning Streak last weekend, he now also has the wedding of his daughter, Helena next Saturday to look forward to.

Michael Anthony is married to Suzanna who is from Clonmany. The couple met at a dance when they were teenagers and they have three sons and one daughter. He works in construction as a civil engineer and has three brothers and four sisters. He said he’s looking forward to having a good celebration at his daughter’s wedding with his winnings from his appearance on Winning Streak. He would also love to go on a holiday to the US with Suzanna. Michael Anthony was supported in the audience oby his wife, Suzanna and his children Michael, Helena, Declan and Alan; two brothers Philip and his wife Rosemary, and Neil and his wife Amanda- as well as sisters, Kathleen, her partner James, Geraldine and her husband Danny along with a neighbour and family friend, Patrick Doherty.
