Secondary school teachers across Inishowen joined with their colleagues across the country on Thursday to strike over proposed aspects of Junior Cycle reform.
It was the second one-day strike since December as teachers protest over plans to make them assess 40% of their students’ work.
At Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana yesterday, teachers on the picket line told the ‘Journal’ they were forced to strike in order to “protect the integrity of the examination system.”
Aidan McAleer, ASTI union representative said they wanted to protect long-held standards and also ensure “equality and fairness to all students.”
Watch the Journal’s video with Scoil Mhuire teachers where they explain why they believe they needed to undertake the one-day strike.
