Inishowen to host Ireland’s first ‘Quadrathon’

The Inishowen 100 scenic drive transforms to a running track for Donegals first ever 4 marathon event. The Inishowen QUADRATHON, organized by Extreme North, takes place next week, starting on Thursday 30th August and continuing for 4 days.

Any runner with half marathon or full marathon experience can enter for a single day challenge on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Walkers can participate in a half marathon walk on either Saturday or Sunday.

There will be an elite group of runners who intend to complete the entire course, therefore running 105 miles over valley, hill and coastal routes, winding their way along the Inishowen 100 Scenic Route over 4 days to complete this amazing challenge.

Each marathon starts at 9.00am each morning with the half marathon starting mid way along the route at 11.00am. Sundays Muff marathon, would be normal marathon terrain whereas the first 3 days would be classified as extreme marathon terrain.

The course and marathon or half marathon choices are;

Thursday 30th August – KINNEGO MARATHON -

Starting Redcastle Hotel via Moville, Greencastle, Shroove before joining in with half marathon runners at the Shanti Bar. Both challenge then climb Cookes Hill, Kinnego and head out through Ballymagaraghy and Ballyharry as they make their way to the Finish line at Culdaff.

Friday 31st August - MALIN HEAD MARATHON

Starting at Lafferty’s Shop Glengad, Urbalreagh,Bree, little house of Malin, Ballygorman, Mamba’s crown and back to Radio station to meet with the Half Marathon start. Then winding through Culoort, knockamanny, Lag, Malin town and onto Culdaff.

Saturday 1st September – MAMORE MARATHON

Leaving Culdaff via Templemoyle, Rasheeny, Ballyliffin, Clonmany to join Half Marathon runners near Rusty Nail Pub. Then the serious business of climbing Mamore Gap on way via Dunree to finish line at Tullyarvan Mills.

Sunday 2nd September – MUFF MARATHON

From Tullyarvan Mill via Buncrana, Burnfoot, slab road, Bridgend to Half Marathon start on Birdstown road. The final challenge then makes its way to Muff, Quigleys point and a very welcome finish line at Redcastle Hotel.

How to register for the INISHOWEN QUADRATHON CHALLENGE;

1.Enter on line at www.extremenorthevents.com by Wednesday 29th August

2.Call and register at Extreme North office at 8 Bath Terrace, Moville, Co. Donegal. On or before Wednesday 29th. Call 0862374644 for appointment.

3.Single day entrants must have registered on line beforehand, but can collect race pack on race morning

4.Early Morning transfers can be arranged to take runners from Finish Line to Start line – this needs to be prearranged.

All participants receive medal, T Shirt and refreshments on completion.

Discounted late entry Fee - Due to late entry the organisers say they cannot guarantee officially race T Shirt, alternatively participants will receive an Extreme North technical T shirt. Entry fee has been reduced by 20% to compensate.
