Irish charity GOAL is offering has urged companies in Derry to give their hard-working employees a lie-in and day of relaxation, while contributing to a worthy cause.
Companies who sign up to a new fundraiser called ‘GOAL Duvet Day’ will see them raffling tickets to employees, with the winning staff member receiving an extra day’s annual leave from work.
GOAL CEO, Barry Andrews said: “GOAL Duvet Day is a fun way for companies to support GOAL’s work in the developing world, while also rewarding employees for their hard work.
“Employee-focused benefits such as ‘GOAL Duvet Day’ increase employee/employer relations and have become a popular practice in the UK, US and Canada.”
Mr Andrews added: “GOAL has continued to respond to the devastating Ebola outbreak in West Africa. We recently opened a 100-bed Ebola treatment centre in Port Loko, Sierra Leone. In Syria, our food programme reaches an incredible 250,000 beneficiaries each month and we are delivering safe water to 210,000 people.
“Without public support for campaigns such as ‘GOAL Duvet Day’, we would not be able to reach these vulnerable men, women and children.”
Tickets for ‘GOAL Duvet Day’ are 10 euro. All proceeds generated from the event will be used to support urgent operations across 16 countries. For more information or to sign your company up for Duvet Day see www.goalglobal.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
