The owner of the Lottery Kiosk in Derry’s Foyleside Shopping Centre says that business is booming since news of two huge lottery wins emerged last week.

Local man Brian Warke believes that one jackpot lotto winner recently has scooped at least £1m, while another customer won £85,000 - on a scratchcard.

“There’s been quite a bit of extra business generated,” Mr Warke told the ‘Journal’ yesterday. “Everyone wants to have bit of the good luck so we’ve been pretty busy.”

National Lottery group Camelot contacted Mr Warke last Thursday to inform him that one of their customers had won several months back. But unfortunately, the lottery winner looks set to remain a mystery.

“The big win actually happened six months ago, but the people who won the lottery unfortunately ticked the box for no publicity, so there is no way we will ever find out who it was!

“All they said was that we had sold a winning jackpot for the lotto, they didn’t even tell us an exact amount. Judging by jackpot amounts in recent months, that winning ticket is bound to be at least £1m.

“Around the same time, by coincidence, it turned out we sold £2.50 scratch card which won someone £85,000 too! But again, whoever won that also opted for no publicity so we’ll never know who that was either. So obviously we’re not looking for the lottery winner, we just want to let people know that the Kiosk here sold a winner!”

Mr Warke says that on average his Kiosk gives out on average £3,000 to £4,000 winnings every week on both lotto and scratch cards.

“We own three shops in Derry and this is the most one of our customers have ever won,” he added.

With another colossal jackpot of £86 million predicted in tonight’s Euromillions draw, Foyleside’s lucky Kiosk has been inundated with customers hoping to share in the wealth and good fortunes.

Mr Warke also wished Derry’s very own ‘secret millionaire’ well with their newfound fortune.

“I would say to him or her, from myself and all the staff here at the Kiosk, “Best of luck with it, I hope it brings you a lot of happiness. We’re so happy you bought the ticket from our shop, and we wish you all the very best with it!’”
