Today is Daffodil Day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and the fundraiser is celebrating its 25th birthday this year. We are calling on everyone to get involved and help make this an extra special occasion.

Inishowen Environmental Group is holding its annual Tree Sale of native hardwood trees and shrubs at Donagh Cross, from 11am. 2 euro per tree/shrub. Colour it green with trees.

There will be a charity dance in the Strand Hotel tonight from 10-1pm in aid of local causes. Music by Capricorn and there will be a Glamorous Granny and Granda. Admission 5 euro. For further information contact Michael McLaughlin 9385376.

As part of the activities to celebrate 100 years of the Carndonagh Agricultural Show, the Society is hosting a quiz in Simpson’s Bar Tul-na -Ri tonight. Come along and enjoy the craic. Everyone most welcome .

Carndonagh Community School is considering introducing I pads for students from Sept 2012 – the target group are the incoming first years and therefore the Central Parent Committee have arranged an information evening for the parents of that year group – i.e. students enrolling in Sept 2012 next Wednesday 28th March at 7.30pm in the Aras. The parents of any other year group are also welcome to attend.

The Good Morning Service County Donegal is launching ‘Friendly Face Befriending Scheme’, aimed at further reducing the social isolation of people over the age of 60yrs in the Inishowen community through the matching of a volunteer befriender with an individual who may feel socially isolated or vulnerable. Carndonagh Boxing Club isstarting Boxercise classes for men every Thursday night from 7- 9 in the Carn Boxing Club behind the Colgan Hall. Open to all age groups over 18 and all body types.

Scouting News: Beavers were busy making special Mother’s Day gifts this week while the Cubs made Chinese lanterns and hats for the annual County Camp which will take place after Easter. Scouts went on a hike, led by Jeremy Smith, up Mamore Gap and down by the Clonmany waterfall. The Venturers had outdoor activities also when they joined the Raphoe group for camping and backwoods cooking at the island on Mintiagh Loch off the Buncrana Mountain Road. Remix Disco: Colgan Hall next Friday, March 30th. Secondary school students only. Adm 5 euro. Supervised by Scout leaders. Seachtain na Gaeilge: The pupils of St. Patrick’s Girls’ & Boys’ Schools were busy with various imeachtaí agus gníomhaíochtaí this week for Seachtain na Gaeilge and they enjoyed some joint activities also - mar shampla Trath na gCeist, Corpoideachas as Gaeilge agus Céilí (tháinig na tuismitheoirí freisin!). There were also visits to the ospidéal for amhráin agus filíocht and to the leabharlann for a cluiche Biongó.

If you are bereaved and would like to talk to someone in confidence, the Carndonagh Bethany Bereavement Support Group is here to help. From the 3rd of April members of the Bethany group will be assisting Fr Con Mc Laughlin by visiting bereaved families with a choice of readings for funeral masses.
