The annual Spring Clean-up of the Malin area and approach roads and the bay area will take place on Monday April 23rd, beginning at 7pm. Gloves, bags, etc. will be provided. Volunteers

It’s that time of the year again, time to get our communities mobilised as the Inishowen Big Spring Clean-Up takes place tomorrow from 10am - 12 noon. If you would like to get involved, contact any of your local County Councillors or ring Martin Gouff DCC at Carndonagh Civic Centre 074 9373709 for information on how to get your free bags, gloves etc.

Foroige’s Big Brother Big Sister Programme is currently seeking volunteers in the Donegal area to act as Big Brothers/Sisters. The programme works with young people aged 10 to 18 years. If you would like to volunteer or would like more information please contact: 086 8213756 or

Malin Bingo winners for last Sunday, 130euro winners: Carrie Mc Laughlin, Culdaff, Anne-Marie Sheils, Carndonagh, Teresa Mc Gonagle, Clonmany and Maria Lynch, Moville. 65euro winner: Breege Diver, Carndonagh. Bingo takes place every Sunday night in St. Patrick’s Hall, Malin commencing at 8.30pm.

Malin GAA: LADIES INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE: MALIN 2-08 DUNGLOE 7-06: Malin ladies got their season off to a disappointing start on Sunday, with a 2-08 to 7-06 defeat to Dungloe. The visitors hit 4 goals in the first 8 minutes of the game to effectively end the contest and were leading by 5-02 to 1-03 at half time. The Malin girls performed better in the second half but the visitors never looked like being caught, scorers for Malin were Ashling McDermott(1-03), Roisin McDonald(1-01), Danielle Gordon(0-2), Caroline Kelly and Linda McColgan. This weekend the ladies travel to Glenties.

Malin minors lost to Cloughaneely in their opening round of Northern Division 1 fixtures last week. The annual Shaun Farren memorial tournament takes place tomorrow in Malin for U-12 boys. Clubs participating this year are Malin, Carndonagh, Moville Muff and Doire Colmcille and Steelstown from Derry. The competition begins at 11-00 am and all support for the young lads is very welcome.

There is a 25 Card Drive in Malin GAA centre on Sunday, 29th April beginning at 5pm. Cost is 10 euro to play with half the pot as the prize fund. For any further information contact John Byrne 086 2507380 and all card players are very welcome.

The club is running a fundraising quiz in the GAA centre on Friday, 27th April beginning at 9-00pm, €5 per person and everyone is welcome.

There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 2,3,6,7,4,5,1. The 50 euro winner was Colm Curley, Magherard with the 20 euro sellers prize going to Conor Byrne, Beaugh. Next week’s lotto jackpot is 1,850 euro and we thank the local community for its continued support.

Killybegs made it three wins out of three in Division 2 with a narrow 0-10 to 0-09 win in Malin on Sunday, a very entertaining and evenly matched contest saw the visitors come from two points behind at the break to make the journey north worthwhile.

ACL DIVISION 2 MALIN 1-12 NAOMH MHUIRE 0-07

Malin began their ACL Division 2 2012 league campaign in some style with an eight point win 1-12 to 0-07 win over Naomh Mhuire in Malin on Sunday the home side braving a second half revival of sorts from the Annagry side before recording 4 late scores to put a deserved gloss on the scoreline.
