Sixteen year-old Derry actress, Lara McIvor, mixed with the leading lights of Hollywood at the debut of her movie ‘The Mantle’ in New York.
The leading lady met Liam Neeson, a patron of the award-winning young people’s film festival ‘Cinemagic,’ at Hearst Tower, Manhattan.
Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People, is an award winning charity that embraces the magic of film, television and digital technologies to educate, motivate and inspire young people aged 4-25 years old, through the medium of workshops, film screenings and industry led masterclasses. ‘The Mantle’ explores the story of a young passionate and talented pianist who loses his father in a tragic accident.
Overcome with grief the young boy is forced to leave school and take over the management of the family farm. The film follows his struggle and his quest to do the right thing while trying to pursue his dreams.
Having landed the coveted role of lead actress role, Lumen Christi pupil, Lara, then travelled to the USA where the film was screened at Cinemagic events in both New York and Los Angeles.
After meeting the A list actor and star of The A-Team, Taken and Star Wars, Lara also attended a number of media training days while in New York including visits to the Sesame Workshop, HBO, New York Film Academy, Ghetto Film School, MOMA, and Manhattan Center.
