Derry’s Foyle Hospice have announced that they will open late two days next week to allow for entries to the annual female walk.

It’s just ten days until the big day - and if you haven’t registered yet, get down to the fundraising centre this week to guarantee you get the right size T-Shirt.

This year the charity needs as many women as possible to come out and support the event as they try and make the magic number of 5,000.

If you haven’t done it before - make this your year!

And if you do it every year then dust those trainers off and get walking to support one of the city’s most loved charities.

The Hospice is anticipating huge numbers of last minute entries this week and has decided to extend their opening hours on the Culmore Road from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Those who can, are asked to try and raise a little bit of sponsorship this year. Ask your workmates to sponsor you, get your family members behind you and ask the men to throw you a few bob.

The women of the city are praying for good weather for what always turns into a magical day full of carnival atmosphere.

Many people walk in fancy dress, many walk in memory of a loved one and others just walk to be part of the charity’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

The Female Walk will take place on Sunday 7th June 2015 at 1.30pm and will start from Templemore Sports Complex with the finish line at Ebrington Square via the Peace Bridge.

This is the 15th annual Female Walk which has grown in popularity year by year.

The new route, which will commence at Templemore Sports Complex, travel along the Buncrana Road progressing onto Riverside Walk at Fort George and then crossing the Peace Bridge to finish at Ebrington Square, will hopefully be the incentive to all the ladies who have previously taken part to come out once again and for all those who haven’t yet joined the thousands of others supporting the Hospice to make this year their first!

Entry is £7.

Entry and sponsorship forms available from Foyle Hospice Fundraising Centre, 61 Culmore Road, 028 71359888 or Foyle Hospice Shop, Waterloo Place.
