Hundreds of students across Inishowen received their Leaving Certificate results this morning.
The anxious wait came to an end at 10.30am for those who undertook the exam at the peninsula’s five secondary schools.
They collected their results at Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana; Crana College, Buncrana; Moville Community School; Carndonagh Community College and Gaelcholaiste Chineal Eoghain, Buncrana throughout the day.
Scoil Mhuire’s principal Rosaleen Grant, told the ‘Journal’ she was delighted with the results achieved by students at the school.
She said: “This is the first time I was principal when the results were received, although I was always involved through my work in guidance.
We’re delighted with the results here at the school. We have students with a wide range of strengths and abilities and had a wide range of scores and points.”
She added: “As long as the students did their very best and achieved what they hoped to, we were happy. We were also delighted to gain results well above the national average in ordinary level maths.”
Students will begin to receive third level offers on Monday and Ms. Grant said she hoped they would all achieve what they wanted to.
“I hope each of them get into the course they want to,” she said.
“Well done to them all and I hope they enjoy their weekend. Go out and celebrate, but not too madly and good luck with the offers on Monday.”
Student Ciara Tracey from Burt achieved the highest marks in the school, with six As.
