Lee Matthews could hardly have envisaged a better start to what promises to be a hectic 2015 with the first new #1 country download single of the year ‘Cotton Eye Joe’. It seems Lee is off to a flying start with the latest hit song making it four #1 singles in a row since his launch.

Lee’s superb debut album ‘A Little Bitty Country’ which is available exclusively via the Sharpe Music Label was also a #1 Hit on the Irish Country download chart and the young singer-songwriter is in top spirits with three of those number one singles being written by himself.

With self-penned songs from his debut album like ‘That Country Girl’ and ‘There’s Irish In Our Eyes’ filling the dance floors across the country, his latest #1 single ‘Cotton Eye Joe’ is set to be his biggest hit to date. The new single has been well received by radio stations and was selected as one of the songs for the final of the

national jiving champions last month in Claremorris.

Lee was voted “Best New Band 2015” by the Sunday World at a prestigious awards ceremony in Dublin. The icing on the cake for Lee was when the ‘Full House’ signs went up at his first Anniversary dance

in the Allingham Arms Hotel. Lee said, “Having hundreds of fans joining me on backing vocals for an encore of Cotton Eye Joe was the best anniversary present I could have had” and I’m looking forward to

hearing the Du-Pont crowd singing it even louder we have to show Donegal the Derry has better singers!

Lee just finished filming his brand new video for Cotton Eye Joe on Monday at The Ulster American Folk Park which could have turned into Cotton Eye Snow after having to delay the video shoot due to heavy

snow a couple of weeks ago. A special behind the scenes feature on the making of the video will be aired on Ireland’s Country - Sky Ch.266 and Freesat 157 8pm on 7th and 9th April. The video will be

released on youtube next week and will be on all the country music TV channels from Monday 30th April.

With a packed diary for the remainder of 2015 that includes appearances at many of Ireland’s foremost festivals, Lee is on the crest of a wave – and he certainly looking forward to his welcome

return to Du-Pont Rec Club this Saturday 21st March - pay at the door.
