Supporting local jobs
Sir,
I was reading an article in the Journal recently in which Mark Durkan praised a local company about the work they do and the fact that they employs 75 people - all good stuff. He then went on to mention that they are suppliers for the likes of Tesco, Asda and a number of other multinationals - again all good stuff.
However I found this all at odds with the policy of the SDLP locally, who have constantly either totally opposed or sat on the fence when it comes to supporting the likes of Tesco or Asda opening new supermarkets in Derry which would create hundreds of well-paid jobs in construction, retail and supply work. It would also ultimately faceguard jobs in local companies who supply the major supermarkets.
Yours,
Puzzled,
Waterside
