‘Lights, Camera, Fashion’ in Plaza tonight

Buncrana Leisure Centre will present ‘Lights, Camera, Fashion’ in the Plaza tonight at 8pm. Local fashion and talent.Tickets are 10 euro and are available in the Leisure Centre, Mac’s Bookshop and at the door.

A family treasure hunt will take place in Dunree Fort this Sunday, 28th April from 1.30 – 4 p.m. in aid of Foyle Hospice. Cost is 12 euro for a group of up to four children who must be accompanied by at least one adult. Telephone 9361387.

To celebrate Bealtaine 2013, Buncrana Community Library is hosting several free events throughout the month of May.

Buncrana Camera Club will host an Exhibition in the Library for the full month of May, looking at and celebrating the theme “As We Age”. A great opportunity to view some of the fantastic talent by the Camera Club members.

Do you ever wonder what www. is all about? Come along to the Library on the 10th May for free Internet classes on a one to one basis.

For all those who are interested in Crochet and would like to learn the basics, beginner crochet classes are kicking off on the 7th May at 2 p.m. for four weeks. The traditional art of Knitting is also making a revival. These classes are for age 10 upwards. They kick off on Wednesday 8th May at 3 p.m.

The Blood Donor Clinic will be held on Monday, 13th May from 6.30 – 9.30 p.m. And on Tuesday, 14th May from 2.30 – 5 p.m. And 7 – 9.30 p.m. In the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. Did you know that 3,000 blood donations are needed in Ireland every week, more than 70,000 people will receive a blood transfusion this year as part of life saving operations and that blood cannot be frozen or stored for longer than 35 days. Blood donors are always needed so come along and bring a friend. All donors are welcome.

Vision Workshop is an opportunity to discover how to move from the negative world of frustration, despair and darkness to a world which overflows with abundance, you will see a future full of promise, hope and possibility. A Relay For Life Table Quiz will be held in O’Flaherty on Friday, 10th May starting at 9p.m. Four people per team, 5 euro per person. Prizes and raffle on the night. Everyone welcome and all proceeds to Relay for Life and the Irish Cancer Society.

Foyle Hospice Fundraiser will hold a ‘Brides Acros the Bridge’. This is a Guinness Book of Records attempt to get 2013 brides across the Peace Bridge in Derry tomorrow. As the ‘brides’ do not have to be married any unwanted wedding dresses in any condition are wanted. Just leave them in Ozanam Shop or Scoil Iosagain. A Charity Shop is now open beside Neal Doherty Jewellers in aid of the Hospice Wards, Carndonagh Community Hospital. Clothes, bric a brac, books, toys, in good condition will be very welcome. Open Monday - Saturday 10.30 a.m. - 5.30 p.m.

Mental Health First Aid Training will be held at the Exchange, Castle Avenue on 13th and 14th May from 9.30 a.m. - 4 p.m. It is free and offered in partnership with the HSE. The ASSIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) will be held in Buncrana on 5th and 6th June. Training is open to everyone in the community and is free of charge. The Buncrana G.A.A. Parish League has now started and will introduce a ‘Get To Know You’ Sports Day Football League on Friday, 26th – Friday, 17th May which is finals day. This will involve all parish schools – Cockhill 3rd and 4th class 1 team; Illies 3rd and 4th class, 1 team; Gaelscoil 3rd and 4th class, 2 teams; Drumfries 3rd and 4th class, 1 team; Desertegney 3rd and 4th class, 1 team and Scoil Iosagain 4th class only, 2 teams.
