“Suicide is such a taboo subject, yet there are so many people living in turmoil, and suffering and maybe haven’t got someone to talk to,” said Angela. “It used to be everyone knows someone affected by cancer, now it’s everyone knows someone who has lost a loved one to suicide.”

Angela said she has always had a fantastic support network thanks to her family, but says others aren’t so lucky. She says that network helped her cope with her depression when she was in her early twenties.

“I’m hoping to raise money for such a worthwhile cause and would love the help of family and friends to do it,” she said.

Angela spoke of people she knew who lost their lives to suicide. She believes services locally to help people are not adequate. She wants to donate the funds raised from the head shave to a local charity but, says if she is unable to find a local one, she will donate to Lifeline. The fundraiser is on October 21st at 8.30pm in The Drummond Hotel, Ballykelly. Angela’s Facebook page is Suicide Awareness. The Lifeline number is 0808 808 8000.
