Little Orchids Centre is a charitable organisation providing intervention and support for children aged from two to four-years-old with special needs and their parents and carers.

The Gransha-based organisation will be taking part in the 32nd Volunteers’ Week celebrations, with a special lunch and guest speaker next Friday, June 3.

A spokesperson for the organisation said: “At Little Orchids, volunteers are valued and make a significant contribution to the work in the centre and enhance the service offered to parents and children.

“Each volunteer has a different reason for volunteering, from those who have free time, those who wish to gain experience and others who want to give something back.

“They are the local heroes that help us provide a vital service in the community.”

Little Orchids haS secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund Awards for All to reimburse volunteers for out of pocket expenses.

John O’Connor, a past parent who has been supporting the charity, said: “I get a great sense of doing good when I volunteer with Little Orchids Children’s Centre, a small local charity which is really benefitting little children in my own neighbourhoods.

“To give an hour bag packing once every few weeks is really nothing for me to give, yet the money raised can go towards enriching the life experience of vulnerable little children who need it.”
