Local catering lecturer is the crème de la crème

A hospitality and Catering Lecturer at North West Regional College has taken the top teaching prize at the Chef industry's version of the '˜Oscars'.

John Crowe has been named Chef Lecturer of the Year at the annual ‘Craft Guild of Chefs Awards’ at the Lancaster London Hotel which recognises the crème de la crème of the UK chef industry.

He picked up the award in front of an audience of 800 industry experts, after being praised for his innovation and dedication to teaching.

Leo Murphy, Principal and Chief Executive of NWRC said: “On behalf of the students and staff at the college, I wish to congratulate John on achieving this prestigious award.

“This is also a success for the college, reflecting the quality of our teaching delivery.

“To have another award winning member of staff is testament to the hard work and dedication our lecturers are committed to.”

John has over 25 years industry experience and just recently made headlines with the development of his innovative range of mobile apps for our students.

He works with Hodder Education and was a reviewer for the latest edition of Practical Cookery Level 3, as well as being credited as the author of the mobile application content which accompanies the book.

This follows on from his involvement with Cengage Learning on the 2nd Ed Professional Chef Level 3 as a contributor and reviewer.

His recent work has also been selected by the Department of Education & Learning to showcase Blended learning through what he has developed at NWRC.
