Staff at a Creggan bookmakers were threatened at gunpoint last night during the fourth robbery of its kind in the city inside the last twelve days.

The Ladbrokes shop at Central Drive became the most recent target for thieves when it was reported that two men entered the premises at 8:30pm armed with a handgun.

A member of staff was threatened during the incident, but was not injured. It’s believed the men made off from the premises with a sum of money.

One of the males is described as being approx 5 8” tall, of slim build and was wearing a ski mask with cut out holes for their eyes and was wearing a black leather jacket. The other male, who remained at the front door of the premises, was also wearing a ski mask and is described as being slightly taller and wearing a padded coat.

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to contact CID in Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000 or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
