A Derry man’s partner was forced into another room before he was killed in a “brutal and horrific” execution, police said last night.
Barry McCrory (35) was gunned down in his city centre flat in broad daylight shortly after 10.30am yesterday.
Police confirmed last night that the murder was an ‘execution-style’ killing.
Detective Chief Inspector Harrison told the ‘Journal’ that there was “no information” to suggest that a paramilitary organisation was involved.
However he added that “all avenues will be explored” in the investigation.
He said: “It was brutal execution and no person has the right to be judge, jury and executioner.”
The finger of suspicion was pointed at dissidents initially by some local politicians yesteday. No organisation had issued a claim of responsibility for the killing at the time of going to press last night.
