Veterinary surgeon Eddie Campbell has said he’s “over the moon” at the news that he’s got an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List.

Eddie, who works out of Drumahoe Veterinary Clinic, said he wasn’t looking for any recognition but was really grateful nonetheless.

“To save a life or make people feel a bit more secure is enough,” he said.

Eddie was born in the Highlands and came to Northern Ireland as a newly-qualified vet in 1960. Shortly after he arrived he met his wife-to-be when he was helping with a cow which had choked on a potato!

He has a keen interest in homeopathy, small animal medicine and surgery, and in his spare time he loves to listen to a variety of types of music.
