Local girls graduate

Congratulations to Colleen McLaughlin, Culdaff Road, Gleneely who has graduated with a B.A. in Business Studies specialising in Marketing. Colleen is the daughter of Patsy and Ann McLaughlin, Gleneely and a past pupil of St. Mary's National School, Gleneely and Carndonagh Community.

Congratulations also to Laura McDermott, Bunagee Road, Culdaff, daughter of Ellen and the late Noel McDermott, Culdaff who graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in association with Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with a post-graduate Diploma in Midwifery. Laura is a former pupil of St. Boden's National School, Culdaff and Carndonagh Community School and Dundee University. She is currently working in Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar.

Deep regret was evoked by the death which took place in Galway last week of Daniel Kearney, Hilltown, Gleneely. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife and family, his mother Kathleen McElhinney, to his brother Gerard and wife Brigid, Carndonagh and the wider family circle. May God Grant him eternal rest.

The next meeting of the praying of the Bible group will take place on Wednesday 21st March at 8.30 p.m. in the Pastoral Centre, Carndonagh.

Congratulations to Patrick McDaid son of Charlie and Kathleen McDaid, St. Boden's Terrace, Culdaff and Linda Long, daughter of Susan and Bertie Long, Glenmake, Carndonagh who got married recently.

A concert of thanks will be held in Greenbank Hall tonight at 8 p.m. Ellen McDermott, Culdaff and Susan Griffin, Malin will be there reporting on their trip to Eritrea, Africa. Admission is free and all are very welcome.

There will be a parish council meeting next Monday, 5th March at 8 p.m. in Bocan Old School. All members are asked to attend.

The Bocan Youth Club rota for tonight is Martina Fitzpatrick, Joanne McDaid, Jane Doherty and Ann Marie O'Connor. Yoga classes have begun in the Wee Hall, Culdaff on Tuesdays at 9.30 a.m. and Fridays at 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information contact Denise on 086-2375619.

There will be a charity concert/dance in the Malin Hotel on Friday, 30th March in aid of the Carndonagh Hospice Wards, the Donegal Hospice and the Foyle Hospice Wards, the Donegal Hospice and the Foyle Hospice. Special guest star Brian Coll as well as local artists Robbie Cunningham and Patsy Cavanagh, Shunnie and Hugh will provide the music. The Women's World Day of Prayer Service will be held tonight in the Presbyterian Church, Moville at 8.30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Community School presents its annual fund raising ceili in the Aras tonight. Music this year is by Martin Duggan. Admission including supper is just 5 euro.

Congratulations to Lisa Crumlish, daughter of Austin and the late Sadie Crumlish of O'Gara Villas, Moville who graduated from the University of Ulster with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sociology and Social Policy. Previously she completed a HND course in computing at the NWIFHE. Lisa was educated at St. Brigid's Girls National School, Moville and Carndonagh Community School.

All the senior citizens of the Parish can enjoy a couple of hours in the Wee Hall, Culdaff ona Friday chatting and socialising, playing bingo and cards, dancing, taking part in exercise and listening to music. The committee would like to see more people attending. So come along and enjoy the craic on Friday mornings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Inishowen Methodist Churches will be running the Good as New Shop behind Mae's, in Carn opening next Monday, 5th March. All donations of clean clothing and bric a brac most welcome.

Irish classes are held in the Pollan Beach Hotel every Tuesday at 7 p.m. All levels of Irish are catered for so come along and enjoy the craic.

A charity dance in aid of the families of the fishermen lost at sea will take place in the Malin Hotel on Friday, 4th May with music by Aidan Canning and Francis Faulkner. Special guests include John McGeoghan on the accordion, Allister Coyle, Ballymoney and Big Tom. Tickets are on sale priced at 7 euro each, or pay at the door. The numbers drawn in the Gleneely F.C. Lotto last week were 5:9:15:20. There was no jackpot winner in the Culdaff FC Lotto last week. The 20 euro winners were Bernie McLaughlin, Culdaff; Philip McLaughlin, Culdaff and Rachel Mills, Culdaff. The jackpot is now 900 euro and the next draw will take place in McGrory's Bar on Sunday night at 10 p.m. This week's sellers are Diarmuid O Brien and Derek Doherty.

Training continues on Tuesdays at Caratra Park and on Thursdays in Malin Hall. Both at 7.15 p.m. The first team drew 3-3 last week with goals from Dermot Diver, John McFeely and Eugene McLaughlin. They play Aileach away this weekend and players are asked to appear at 12.45 p.m. to travel. The Reserves defeated Carrowmena 5-1 with goals from Eugene McLaughlin and two apiece from Brendan McGrenaghan and Mick McLaughlin. This week they have no game.

The annual Night at the Races will be held as usual on Easter Monday night. Horses are on sale now proceed at 15 euro. All cards must be returned by Saturday, 31st March at the absolute latest. Cards returned after this. Dates will not be included in the programme. There will be a club meeting in the clubhouse next Tuesday, 6th March at 9 p.m. sharp. Anyone interested in helping out at youth football should attend.

In the Strand Hotel First Division Gleneely Colts defeated Sea Rovers F.C. 7.2 with goals from Seamus Craig, Gary Duffy, Gareth McLaughlin, Keith McLaughlin and Ronan Kearney.
