A 23-year-old convicted sex offender was found with a horrifying image of a taped-up baby being sexually abused, a shocked court has heard.

Sickening details emerged yesterday when Stephen McCrossan, c/o Maghaberry, pleaded guilty to a string of child porn offences.

They included making and possessing an indecent image, possessing extreme images and breaching a sexual offences prevention order between August 2011 and February, last year.

McCrossan received a determinate three year sentence which includes 18 months in custody and 18 months on licence.

Derry Crown Court heard police searched the 23-year-old’s home in the Lisnavar Court area of the Waterside after a probation officer reported seeing a wireless router.

This was in breach of a sexual offences prevention order placed on McCrossan in 2011.

Officers found approximately 20,000 indecent images on a laptop computer, an external hard drive and discs. They ranged from the most serious category to the least serious.

One of the images was of a six-month-old baby being sexually abused.
