Armed gardai are surrounding a building in a rural area near Burnfoot as the hunt continues for the killer of Barry McCrory in Derry yesterday.
It’s thought the operation began at around half five this evening in the Brae Road area, between Burnfoot and Muff.
The PSNI last night issued a photograph of a 58-year-old Derryman, Kieran McLaughlin, who they want to talk to about the murder.
Freelance reporter Eamonn MacDermott, who’s at the scene, said: “There are armed gardai everywhere”. It’s been suggested that reporters and photographers have been told to move away.
A local man said people living in the area had been advised to stay in their homes. There’s been a report of a helicopter assisting in the operation.
Mr McCrory, who was 35, was shot dead at a flat in Shipquay Street yesterday (Thurs) morning.
