Meet John, his son John, his grandson John and his great grandson John.

They’re the four generations of Nixon men from Derry.

All four men are not only called John Nixon, they also have the middle name Patrick.

The name John Patrick has become a tradition with the Nixon men, one that
was started by John Patrick Nixon Senior who’s pictured in the black and white picture here.

Sadly John Patrick
senior passed away some years ago, and never lived
to see the birth of his great-great-grandson – also
named John Patrick who
was born on Valentine’s Day 2014.

“It’s a real tradition with the name,” said baby John’s father, John.

Asked if gets a bit confusing when all of the men are together - John says: “Not really, we all have our own names. I’d say the wee man will get ‘Wee John’ and most people call me ‘John Boy.’

The fifth generation John Patrick was born on February 14 this year.

His dad John already
has two daughters, Chantelle and Charlotte and when
he and his wife found out they were having a boy, there
was only one name to be chosen.

“John was a big boy weighing in at 8 pounds,” said John. “He’s now the new generation of John Patrick.”
