More clerical changes in Derry Diocese

A new series of clerical changes in the Derry Diocese has just been announced by Diocesan Administrator, Very Rev. Francis Bradley.

A new series of clerical changes in the Derry Diocese has just been announced by Diocesan Administrator, Very Rev. Francis Bradley.

The Diocese of Derry is in line for another series of clerical changes.

The move comes as Derry awaits the appointment of its new Bishop.

Details of the new appointments were announced at Masses in the Diocese over the weekend.

Diocesan Administrator Very. Rev. Francis Bradley confirmed they will take effect from January 24.

The new appointments are:

* Very Rev. John Cargan, PP Our Lady of Lourdes, Steelstown (Derry), to be PP Kilrea and Desertoghill (Kilrea).

* Rev. John McDevitt, CC Drumragh (Omagh), to be PP Our Lady of Lourdes, Steelstown (Derry) and Diocesan Director of Formation.

* Rev. Brendan Doherty, Adm Kilrea and Desertoghill (Kilrea), to retire.

* Rev. Joseph Gormley, CC Cappagh (Killyclogher, Omagh), to be Adm pro tem Holy Family, Ballymagroarty (Derry).

* Rev. Thomas Canning, CC Drumachose, Tamlaght Finlagan and part of Aghanloo (Limavady), to be CC The Three Patrons (Derry).

* Rev. Dermot McGirr, CC The Three Patrons, to be CC Drumragh (Omagh).

* Rev. James Devine, newly ordained, to be CC Drumachose, Tamlaght Finlagan and part of Aghanloo (Limavady).
