A local hairdressing salon is looking for as many men as possible to take part in this year’s Movember charity event.
Movember, which runs for the entire month of November, sees men from all over the world raise money for men’s health by growing moustaches.
Last year, RoCo on the Strand Road, raised £5,500 but when Movember starts next Friday they are hoping to raise £20,000.
“There’s been a real buzz about the place for the last few days and we even have well known names such as James McClean, Jordan O’Keefe and Paul McCloskey taking part.
“It all starts next week so let the tache envy commence,” said RoCo co-owner, Ronan Stewart.
Anyone interested in taking part in this Movember with RoCo must register online and then they can collect their starter packs in the Strand Road salon next Friday.
“One of our staff, Dean Gallagher, said that who ever grows the best moustache he will get it tattooed on to his body and the winner gets to decide where,” said Ronan laughing.
“Not only is Movember a great way of raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancer this year there is a focus on mental health which is really important too.
“Last year we had Derry City players like Barry Molloy taking part and some of the men who take part get into a real slagging match with one another - the craic is always great.”
There’s a goody bag for every person who registers to take part and at the end of the month RoCo will be hosting a Movember party.
There will be a Turkish barber at hand to shave off all the moustaches at the party as well as prizes for the best and worst moustache.
“We just want as many people to get involved. It’ll great craic,” said Ronan.
