Roma Downey to be honoured by University of Ulster

Derry actress Roma Downey is to be honoured by the University of Ulster.

A spokesperson for the University today confirmed The Bible actress will receive an honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts for her “outstanding contribution to acting and philanthropy.”

It is understood the Derry actress is among 24 people who will receive honorary awards from the University this year.

Roma, reared in Beechwood Avenue, rose to international stardom when she played Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the US television miniseries, A Woman Named Jackie, ’ before cementing her fame as Monica’ in Touched by an Angel.’
