Dungiven councillors, Sinn Fein’s Sean McGlinchey and the SDLP’s Michael Coyle give their reaction on Saturday night’s armed robbery at the Spar on Chapel Road in Dungiven.
No one was injured in the ordeal, and councillors say the owner of the business would like to thank the public for their support.
Meanwhile Police in Limavady have issued a detailed description of the armed robber who struck in Dungiven last night, writes Sheena Jackson.
The incident happened at approximately 10.30pm when police say a man, believed to be armed with a suspected firearm and a hammer, demanded money from staff at the Spar shop on Chapel Road and made off with a sum of cash.
The three female staff members were not injured in the incident, but were left shaken.
“The man is believed to be aged in his early 30s, approximately 5’7” tall and of medium build. He was wearing a balaclava, blue jeans, black trainers, gloves and a navy hooded top with the letters “DSL” in red and white,” said a PSNI spokesperson today..
