Derry Journal Toy Appeal kicks off again for 2013. Supporting the appeal are Firefighters Ronnie Cathers and James Carolan from Northland Road fire service, Derry City area president Cormac Wilson, St Vincent de Paul, Lieutenant Philip Coae, Salvation Army and Derry Journal staff Margaret Foley, Jacqui Diamond and Aileen Quigley.

The Journal is asking the people of the North West to dig deep and help make a local child’s Christmas, as we launch our thirteenth annual toy appeal.

The Journal toy appeal, which is run in conjunction with the Salvation Army, St Vincent De Paul and the Northern Ireland Fire Service, collects presents for boys and girls of all ages, from babies to teenagers.

Over the past decade, the campaign has helped bring Christmas miracles to thousands of local families.

In these times of economic cutbacks, it is even more vital to contribute.

Derry Journal Retail Sales Manager Margaret Foley says that, with your help, we can try to ensure no child wakes up on Christmas morning without a present under the tree.

Margaret added: “Derry people are famed for their generosity and year on year our Toy Appeal has provided a lifeline to many families in need over the festive period. Every parent wants the very best for their child and no one wants a child to miss out on the magic of Christmas.

“Put an extra toy in your trolley this year or, alternatively, donate some cash or a cheque to the appeal. All donations will go directly to families in need.”

Donations gratefully accepted to St Vincent de Paul, Ozanam House, 22 Bridge Street or at Salvation Army, John Street. Northland Road Fire Station, or at the Derry Journal Offices. For cash donations send cheques to Toy Appeal, Derry Journal, 113-118 Duncreggan Road, BT48 0AA
