Tributes paid to retired Strabane teacher after sudden death

Tributes have been paid to a retired Strabane teacher who died suddenly at a Donegal hotel yesterday.

Una Quinn (79), from Melmount Gardens, - well known locally for her work as a teacher at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School - died at Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey.

It is believed Mrs Quinn had been using the swimming pool at the hotel’s leisure complex when she died.

People have been leaving tributes and messages of support for the Quinn family on the ‘Old Strabane and its memories’ Facebook page.

Donal McGranaghan wrote: “End of an era. A wonderful woman and a great friend. Many memories of her and my mother having a chat and a piece of her cake! God rest her and condolences to the Quinn family.”

Mrs Quinn, who was a native of Galway will be buried on Saturday.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Patsy and is survived by her children Kevin, Brendan, Aidan, Fergal and Rita.
