Derry is set to contribute the best dance and rock acts to the festival highlight of the year.
While Pulp, Arcade Fire and the Chemical Brothers may be headlining this year’s Electric Picnic, it’s local boys The Japanese Popstars and The Undertones who will be carrying the flag for the North West.
The Undertones are celebrating their 35th anniversary and even at this stage of their illustrious career the band show no signs of slowing up.
What could be wrong with a blast of Teenage Kicks in a field in the wonderful setting of Stradbally, Co. Laois?
The Japanese Popstars have zig-zagged their way across Europe this summer. The local producer and DJ three peice have already played some of the best festivals on the continent but between September 2nd-4th they will be helping the Electric Picnic retain its title of the best festival in Europe.
Last year’s Picnic won four awards - the 2010 Winner European Festival Award, the Irish Festival Award, the IMRO Festival Award and the 2010 Greenest Festival Award.
The popstars have been integral to every Picnic, as the resident DJs. And if their remixes work for the likes of Béyonce, Daft Punk, Kylie Minogue and Gorillaz, they will definitely work for you.
Weekend tickets to Electric Picnic are e240 and Sunday day tickets cost e99.50 (No camping permitted) Regular Campervan Tickets for access are e60. A number of ti ckets are still available from www.ticketmaster.ie and usual outlets. All ticket prices include booking fee and VAT.
