A very moving ceremony
There was a large gathering of people present on Sunday week last at the blessing by Fr. John Farren of what is known locally as 'the Graveyard', Three Trees, where years ago new born babies and a few adults were buried in unmarked graves.
The reason for this was that babies who died before they were baptised could not be buried on consecrated ground. A group of people from the area came together with Fr. Farren and arranged for the ground to be blessed. It was a sad and moving occasion bringing comfort and closure to the families concerned and justice for the babies who were buried there. Thanks to the following people who made this memorable day possible: Susan Farren, Hugh Crossan, Billy Atcheson, the Ivor family, thanks also to Devlin's Bridgend for donating two beautiful angel statues and to Peter McLaughlin who supplied signs giving directions to the graveyard. Many who attended brought flowers as an expression of love for the babies.
