Air show takes off
Leading up to the 11th instalment of the NI International Air Show, yesterday’s media launch has provided a sneak preview to whet the appetite for excitement.
Several of the most high profile aircraft, including the BD-5 made famous by the James Bond film, ‘Octopussy’, and a 1952 Bellanca, of which there are only two in the world, arrived at Derry on Wednesday night for final preparations for the this weeken’s show in Portrush.Gerry McCloskey, owner of the Monico Lounge, Derry, will once again be playing a prominent role, distributing the ‘poppy drop’ mid-flight from the spectacular Antonov AN-2.
With a packed schedule of over 30 air displays, as well as an Aircraft Exhibition, trade area, helicopter rides and Royal Commando demonstrations, it looks set to be one of the most spectacular air shows yet.
